May 27, 2010 -Ekin Considers Marriage, Regards Yoyo as Lifelong Companion.
In September 2006 Ekin started to date his badminton partner Yoyo Mung. Over the last 4 years there has been much speculation as to whether they would eventually get married or part company. Last year it was even reported that Yoyo had tried to force Ekin to get married and had failed. Recently Ekin said he had the impetus to get married, but he needed to get used to the idea. he also admitted that his current girlfriend Yoyo was the most suitable to be his lifelong partner. However regarding children, neither of them wanted to have children as they didn't want to subject young children to the stresses of the modern world. As each of these rumors surfaced they both denied them or refused to answer. Now toward the question of marriage he has had a change of heart and is actively thinking about it.
Recently both Jordan Chan and Oxide Peng got married. Ekin was asked whether he envied Jordan. Ekin said, " I am happy for him, If you ask me, I am also thinking, really thinking, many of the people around me are changing. I had thought not getting married was special so I was unlikely to do so. Now I am really thinking about whether to get married. Right now I need to move slowly to digest this idea.
Ekin said he has had this idea for only a little while, because you are either alone or together, society thinks you will be with this person for ever. People need time to plan. Ekin has already said that in his relationship with Yoyo they are both interested in the same kinds of things. They both like outdoor pursuits. Ekin feels that they are compatible and confessed that she is suitable to be his lifelong partner.
Ekin defended his friends Charlene Choi and Andy Lau who married secretly. He felt that this was their own business and had nothing to do with the public. He indicated that when he does get married it will not be a secret. Reporters wanted to know when he would be getting married . Ekin said, " before the event, I will slowly deal with it. Right now I am still considering it" As to Yoyo giving birth to the next generation Ekin is resolute, " Unlikely, I don't want this problem, it is not economic. I don't want children to confront this society's environment and pressure." Is Yoyo's idea the same? Ekin replied, " I believe her opinion is the same as mine."
Ekin was asked about his ideal wedding, would it be a big feast with family and friends or a more secretive affair. Ekin said that he felt this kind of information was private. 'If you make me choose then can't consider the environmental factor. I think there is no problem with Ah Sa. Her marriage is her affair. You don't have the authority to criticize her work or her marriage. I think if she deceived everyone, let's talk about Andy Lau next. he also believes that this is his private affair. I am processing this in a historical context. I am not the same. I can tell everybody."
